The Salem/Keizer Coalition for Equality’s work was nationally recognized by the Education Trust (Ed Trust) in their 2012 Annual Report, which features a spread about the SKCE’s work and partnership with the Ed Trust. In it, the Coalition’s Executive Director Eduardo Angulo said:
“We have grassroots credibility and understanding. And, as organizers, we support and network with anyone who supports our mission. We want to get as much power on our side as we can.
“Which is where the Ed Trust comes in. While we’re making change in schools and districts, the Ed Trust gives us policy analysis and helps us craft arguments based on their data analysis, which means we can give our parent advocates new and powerful insights. As an organization, we can focus more time and energy on what we do best — mobilize and support parents — while the Ed Trust provides analytical support. And, it’s important to add, I think the Ed Trust’s work grows stronger, too, because of what our parents are achieving, and learning, in our communities.”

The Education Trust was a key partner in the creation of the Oregon Alliance for Education Equity, a coalition of organizations that advocate for equity in education for our children of color in the state of Oregon.
