What does Training of Trainers (TOT) do?
The TOT prepares parent leaders to become proficient facilitators for the 18-unit Educa e Inspira (Educate & Inspire) parent involvement curriculum.
How does it Work?
SKCE’s TOT involves more than 50 hours of training and aligns with the SKCE’s philosophy that peers of the same language, culture and life experiences are the most effective facilitators for their own peers learning.
Training is grounded in the methodology of Popular Education, which involves active sharing and storytelling, visual and relational learning, and critical thinking.
TOT aims to empower parents to take control of their own learning and to affect change in their own lives, families and communities.
What makes it Unique?
Trainers share a common experience, language and background with the new parent facilitators they are training.
The TOT helps low-income, Spanish-speaking parents build relationships with each other, learn from each other, and support each other throughout their work in the community.
Comments from Parents who were Trained
